What is it that we still
want
When we’ve given all we’ve
got?
We convinced ourselves that
we are who we believe we are.
I surrendered to your
weaknesses; you gave in to my wiles.
We stood silent as we
unleashed our dragons and demons to go wild.
In the brightest of days, in
the darkest of nights
I would lay beside you and
you’d turn your face against mine.
We knew what we saw in each
other’s eyes
We knew all along what we
both had denied.
It was not you whom I wanted
or needed;
And to you neither was I
It was all a lie, in the end
it was.
The mind can easily be
fooled;
But the heart, no matter how
fragile, cannot.
